The Preppy Ladybug Review...

Hey everyone

After the purchase of my new laptop (which model was chosen depending on which would look best with a monogram #monogramoholicprobs #sorryimnotsorry :P) and a phone case that was screaming out for a monogram I turned to {etsy} for some monogram decals - and boy was there a plethora of shops to choose from!

After narrowing the choices down - mostly based on which shipped to the UK for the most reasonable price - I decided to order from {The Preppy Ladybug}.

Taking into consideration my laptop size and phone case size I decided to order one of the {5 inch monogrammed decal} and one of the {2 inch monogrammed decal} both in the 'vine' font and in hot pink :)

The shipping was pretty fast - it was only a week or so - a couple of weeks max - which was awesome :)

The package include their business card - how adorable is it?
I love their colour scheme! It's going on my picture wall for sure!

The decals came in a a clear plastic bag that was all tied up with a cute pink ribbon - super nice to receive :)

Instructions on how to apply the decals were also included which was great because this was the first time I had applied decals - the instructions were super simple (pretty much common sense) and easy to follow.

So here are the decals - now I'm no decal expert but they feel pretty good quality and they were really easy to apply - meaning they came off the backing paper and sticky paper really easily but felt like they stuck to the surface really well.

Here's what the 2 inch looks on my iPhone case - I applied it a tad off centre but it just about fit - I love how it looks - I'm obsessed with having this case on my phone now!

Here's what the 5 inch looks on my laptop - it's absolutely perfect - it looks exactly how I had wanted it to! I was contemplating going with the 7 inch but I'm super glad that I went for the 5 inch - I think it's just enough

I decided to apply the decal sort of upside down-ish - I wanted it so that the monogram would be the right way up when the laptop is open - I think it looks cuter that way!

I absolutely love how my decals turned out - they feel like they're gonna last a really long time too :)

I would definitely recommend ordering from {The Preppy Ladybug} - their decals are great (I've got my eye on the {set of 9 monograms}!)

MWIP: 35/52...

Hey everyone

Nothing major happened this week (aside from the big reveal of my new blog design!! - lemme know how you like it!) so I don't really have much to say other than here's what I got up to - I...

...am still working my way through The Hills - this time with a nice cup of tea - this saddens me somewhat because it must be getting colder if I'm having tea :(
#wheredidsummergo

...discovered and became obsessed with the {Vineyard Peach} scent from {The Body Shop} - I'm gutted it's only limited edition - I think I'm going to have to go and stock up!

...thoroughly enjoyed the decadence of these cookies - whoever thought to put gooey chocolate inside a cookie is a genius

...had the first cup of tea in our new {Cath Kidston} mugs - aren't they adorable?

...took a #shamelessselfie

...had probably my last Mocha Cookie Crumble of the year #sob

...went a little crazy on stationery (to the tune of nearly £40 - I know, I know! #nojudgingplease) but I just couldn't resist the awesome hilarity of these post it notes and who can resist a zebra? Not this girl.

...experienced one of the most hilarious moments of my life when little Prin fell into a clay/mud puddle - she didn't realise how deep it was, slipped and totally belly-flopped - as you can see she ended up being one mucky pup!

...after that disaster she obviously had to have a bath which, as you can see, she wasn't very impressed about!

...had a lovely dinner with my bestie Lj and my goddaughter Boodles - isn't she just the cutest?!

...bought a new facial cleanser to add into my morning {skincare routine} - it's one of those 2-in-1 products and I'm all for anything that makes my morning routine quicker so I can have longer in bed :P

...found this super cute metal shopping basket in TK Maxx that I just couldn't pass up! I decided to use it for all my planner decorating supplies (I've become borderline obsessed with making my planner look pretty, so expect some posts on that  coming soon!) plonked on my desk

...took many pictures of Prin as per - with my JW ribbon in her mouth,  stealing my seat when I was working outside, sprawled on the floor waiting for Ma to come home, out in the garden playing, chilling on my bed & eyeing up my diet coke!

Hope y'all had a great week - what did you get up to?

P.S. as always if you fancy linking up and sharing your MWIP then just grab the button and leave your link in the comments - I'd love to see them!

A to Z Book Survey...

Hey everyone

So I saw this post on {Blonde Undercover Blonde} a couple of weeks ago and thought it was such a fun idea! Y'all know how much of a bookworm I am (see my {book club series} for further clarification!) so I couldn't resist joining in!

  From The Perpetual Page Turner

Author you’ve read the most books from:

Enid Blyton, Jacqueline Wilson, JK Rowling, Meg Cabot & Kathy Reichs

Best Sequel Ever:

Any of the Temperance Brennan sequels - they are all amazing! I have been hooked since reading the first book in the series {Deja Dead} - I've had to stop myself from just going straight through the whole series one book after another this summer!

Currently Reading:

I'm struggling to get on with and finish {Metamorphosis} by Erin Noelle so I'm reading reading a sample of {Postmorten} by Patricia Cornwell as well :)

Drink of Choice While Reading:

In the winter a nice cup of English Breakfast tea is never far from my side, but in the summer I'm partial to some iced tea - especially Snapple's cranberry and raspberry or iced tea lemonade :)

E-reader or Physical Book?
I love love love the ease of reading an e-reader but I do think that nothing beats the feel of cracking the spine of a new book (or that 'new book' smell!) - I like to have both in my life :)

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

This is so tough because I am literally any authors target for the love interest in a book - I fall in love with every love interest in any book I read - I'm just a sucker for one of those {boys in books} - seriously check that video out - it's hilarious! Anyway back to the question, I think the one that stands out it Roger from {Amy & Roger's Epic Detour} (side note: here's my {review} of this book, it's definitely one of my most favourite books ever!)

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

{The Cuckoo's Calling} by Robert Brailwaith - I didn't think that I would like any of JK Rowling's other books simply because Harry Potter was so incredibly awesome that I didn't think that I would be able to identify or read her style of writing without expecting Harry or Ron to pop up in the next paragraph! I seriously loved this book - it was a really good modern mystery novel without any gruesome murders (not that I'm not a fan of a good gruesome book - I mean I read and loved {this} and {this}!) - a really good plot line that kept me engaged, an amazing plot twist at the end (I mean did in no way see that one coming!) whilst retaining Rowling's classic style of description and story telling - I loved it!

Hidden Gem Book:

{Ransom My Heart} by Meg Cabot - I fell head over heels with this historical stand alone novel by 'Mia Thermopolis' - read my review {here}

Important Moment in your Reading Life:

Getting hooked on the Harry Potter books before they hit the big time - I received the first book for my birthday from my aunt on the promise from the shop assistant that the series would be huge!

Just Finished:

{He's So Not Worth It} by Kieran Scott - I love this series -  mainly for Jake - he's just so darned cute when he's all besotted with Ally!

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:
I'm over the whole gothic fiction trend now - yes, Twilight was good when it first hit the shelves but now it seems that every YA book has to have werewolves or vampires or witches in it - I'm just not a fan. Oh, and 50 Shades style - yes, I did read them last year and I have to say that they were a struggle to read through- never again!
Longest Book You’ve Read:
Last summer I read {Gone With The Wind} by Margaret Mitchell- I loved it so much but boy was it long!

Major book hangover because of:

{Before I Die} by Jenny Downham (everyone must read this book - I was sobbing on my sun lounger when I read this on holiday a couple of years back!) and {Change of Heart} by Jodi Piccoult (funnily enough I read this on the same holiday as Before I Die) - these books gave me so much to think about and I couldn't get them out of my head.

Number of Bookcases You Own:
Just the one above my desk - though I do have to admit that I basically use the loft as my book storage - the amount of piles of books up there is just embarrassing :P And I've been reading ebooks mostly for a few years now too - thankfully they don't take up any room!
One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:
I'm a serial re-reader of books - I can never give any away on the off chance that I may want to re-read them one day! I've read the HP series many many times, every summer I re-read {Amy & Roger's Epic Detour} because I love it so much. Oh and I was obsessed with {the au pairs} series a few years back - these books are what got me obsessed with The Hamptons!
Preferred Place To Read:
I will read anywhere - in a car, on my bed, in the garden, on a train, in a lecture hall - I'm not fussy :P
Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:
Wow, this one was so difficult! Tragically I'm going to be incredibly cliche as say this
"if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane" - from {Looking For Alaska} by John Green - I love how it rolls off the tongue and it just sticks in my mind so much.

Reading Regret:

The 50 Shades series - the writing was just so blah - the vocabulary was repetitive, the plot line was pretty boring - the only reason it was such a trend was because of it;s risque nature - it was all fur coat and no knickers (all front and no substance basically)!

Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):
The Tempe Brennan series - I'm obsessed.
Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:
What kind of question is this?! It's like asking a parent which is their favourite child?! :P
Okay, here are the first three that spring to mind - {Before I Die} by Jenny Downham, {Amy & Roger's Epic Detour} by Morgan Matson & the {Moving Out/In/On} series by Kate Cann (no, including a series is not cheating - shh :P)
Unapologetic Fangirl For:
Harry Potter, Temperance Brennan, Sherlock Holmes
Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:
I don't really keep up with new releases but I am looking forward to the sequel to {The Cuckoo's Calling} and the new Temperance Brennan book (even though that is like book 15 and I'm only on 6 :P
Worst Bookish Habit:
Getting so sucked into a book that I end up having a reading marathon and finishing it in the same day that I started it!

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

{Kiss and Tell} by Fiona Walker - I'm yet to read this actually - this has reminded me that I need to get on to reading that one!

Your latest book purchase:
Unsurprisingly it's a Tempe Brennan on - {Bare Bones} by Kathy Reichs
ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):
{The Surgeon} by Tess Gerritsen - super engaging but I don't recommend reading it at night - I may or may not have been jumping at small noises whilst reading this :P

I loved answering these - I hope you enjoyed reading them!
Leave your link in the comments if you do the 'A to Z Book Survey' too - I'd love to read them!

Annual Redesign Reveal...

Hey everyone

So, around this time last year - {August 19th} to be exact - I revealed my re-design of my blog - I was so proud of that revamp because I did everything on it myself and got it look exactly how I wanted it - it was my first blogging project, designing experience and dabble with coding!

Fast forward to a year on and here we are again - as much as I loved my last design, I felt like my lil blog needed a little freshening up and a bit of a colour injection was needed. I turned to {pinterest} of course and suddenly inspiration hit - neutrals with a pop of colour - classic!

I love how the different hues of grey keep this simple and understated but the pop of lime green keeps things interesting.

Fun fact: when trying to decide what colour to have as my accent colour, I asked Ma what colour she thought of when she thought of me and she said "neon orange" - seriously?! Where on earth did she get that from?!

So, like last year I designed and implemented everything myself so I am super pleased with how my blog looks now - I hope y'all do too!

P.S. I changed up my buttons for my blog and MWIP link up too so if you have my old ones still please feel free to grab the shiny new ones :)

aHm xoxo
P.P.S. these things ^^ are new too - but you don't even want to know how much stress they caused me! :P

MWIP: 34/52...

Hey everyone

Well, if you've been following me on {twitter} or {tumblr} or read {this} post then you'll know that this week was one of the worst week of my life (and no, I'm seriously not exaggerating). After five years the bf and I broke up - and it wasn't pretty. It sucked.

But nevertheless, here's what I got up to this week (don't worry - I've spared you multiple tear-stained selfies and snaps of lots of chocolate and ice cream - you're welcome), I...

... had my usual mocha cookie crumble - I will be so sad when they stop serving these :(

...bought Prin a new toy - his name is Jeremy the Giraffe :P

...I bought some new bedding - isn't the fact that it's an American flag just too perfect?!

...managed to resist (again) buying the J Crew Pixie pants! I feel like I would get so much wear out of them but they are just so darn expensive!

...did some more work on my case study but I really need to get down to work on my portfolio next week - I've definitely been slacking #oops !

...couldn't decide what colour to paint my nails - thanks to {Between Friends Fashion} on {twitter} for helping me to decide!

...went for Barry M's 'Guava' - I love it, it's super bright and summery!

...very nearly booked myself a little break to my favourite place in the whole world - but I resisted. Seriously regretting this now.

...tried to console myself with retail therapy - I bought this super cute dress from {Joules} - how adorable is the hunting print?!

...fancied giving this intriguing hot chocolate a try!

...snapped the obilgatory photos of Little Prin. How cute is she in the last one? It was after her bath and I think that she looked like a little pygmy puff!

...finally got my monograms from {the preppy ladybug} - I love them!
Pssst...keep an eye out for a review on them!

What did you do this week?
I hope that your week was a darn sight better than mine!

aHm xoxo
