Insta-Lately // March 2017

It's time to share my past month through the medium of my instagram feed - if you fancy following along then my insta is @belsmay13 :) I'm attempting to post every single day of 2017 so if you want to see the other photos that didn't make the cut for this post then head over there!

This months Insta-Lately is a couple of days early because I've got a post for all about Daylight Savings (yay for longer days!) that'd be more appropriate to go up on Sunday than this one, so check back then!

Anyway, onto my fave photos from my insta from March:

I bloomin' love the quote pages at the start of each month in my Erin Condren Life Planner - this month's is so pretty and the quote is something I've flipped back to time and time again over the past few weeks for a little reminder.

It was World Book Day this month so obviously I had to share my absolute most favourite series, growing up I read and re-read HP books all the time. Reading them as an adult is like coming home - it's so magically comforting, I'll never get tired of HP!

I've seriously been getting my moneys worth from Disney Life this month - I just can't get enough! I've been loving re-watching all of my fave Disney movies! I also fell in love with The Pirates of the Caribbean - I've never seen these films before and now they've become some of my favourites!

How can I possibly get any work done when this adorable munchkin is distracting me?! She's just too cute, I can't!

Saturdays are meant for yummy breakfasts in bed, right?! I'm no Nigella in the kitchen (far from it!) so when I saw these frozen chocolate chip pancakes in Iceland I snatched them up! Three minutes in the toaster and you've got delicious pancakes with none of the mess of actually making pancakes, winner!

Taking my contact lenses out after a long shift is one of my most favourite little pleasures in life! Add  a hot chocolate and an early bedtime into that equation and I'm in heaven! I'm such a grandma!...

It's official, this past month we had some actual Spring-y weather! It meant that I broke out my sunnies and my short sleeved striped shirts for the first time this year - yay! The fact that Spring is on its way has improved my mood immensely, I'm so ready for Winter to be over now!

I did a thing...I bought my first ever MacBook! I've been wanting a MacBook for years now, I've been saving up for it for a little while (I kept dipping into it to support my handbag addition - oops!) and I finally bit the bullet and treated myself this month! I'm telling myself that it's because I need an actual laptop to work on my portfolio at home, but not gonna lie - it's definitely partly for blogging too! I definitely underestimated how it'd be working with an Apple computer, I've been a Microsoft gal through and through until now! It's quite nice learning how to use a new bit of tech though!

When the weather was all sunny and warm I bought some tulips to bring a little bit of Spring inside - and then the weather changed and it has been chilly and pouring down with rain ever since!

I had a bit of a blog-appreciation day the other day - I dedicated a couple of hours to getting lost in my Bloglovin' feed and came away with so much inspiration and love for the blogging community! It really made me think how little I do to show my appreciation for the posts I read, with the exception of a retweet here and there - I'm such a silent reader, I don't ever comment (it's terrible, I know!)! So I scrapped the original idea for my blog post last week and decided to share a few of the blog posts I really enjoyed reading - this is the post if you fancy a read too!

12 Posts I've Loved Lately

One of my favourite things to do is spend an hour or so, snuggled up in bed with a cup of tea and morning sunlight streaming through the windows catching up on everyones blog posts. I love how luxurious this simple act feels, how I can feel inspired before I even officially start my day and how it actually makes my lie in seem vaguely productive (shh, that's how I justify into myself anyway!)

Each month last year I shared a selection of the posts I'd read that month that I loved/inspired me/ made me smile. And tbh I miss those posts, I miss sharing those gems that really helped me through the month.

For one reason or another I've stopped creating those posts and since then, other than the odd retweet I rarely show my appreciation for the posts that I love (which is so wrong of me!) so, I thought I'd share some of my fave posts I read in the past few weeks:

What're your favourite posts you've read recently? Lemme know in the comments please!

Currently // 15.3

I love these quick-fire sharing posts, here's a roundup of all things 'currently' in my life...

Celebrating //  the fact that it feels like winter *might* (lets not speak too soon!) be nearly over and Spring *might* (just possibly) be around the corner. We've been getting a few days of warmth and sunshine each week for the last couple of weeks plus the days are starting to get longer so it feels like Spring is on its way! My mood has already started to improve, yay!

Excited for // my MacBook Air to arrive tomorrow! I've never been part of the MacBook club before so I'm really excited for it!

Grateful for // all of the help we had after Storm Doris. In case you didn't know Storm Doris decided to literally blow my ponies stable away - it ended up in a tree - not even exaggerating! A group of friends/family came together to help us a) remove it from said tree and b) rebuild it again considering it was pretty much flat-packed again! Now it's as good as new! It was such a big job that there's no way we could've done it on our own.

Listening to // I usually just put my music on shuffle when I get in the car but lately I've been having the Kill the Lights album (Luke Bryan) on repeat because I've found myself replaying pretty much all of the songs from it when they've come on shuffle. My faves are Razor Blade and Just Over - so good!

Loving // Easter chocolate - mini eggs, golden eggs & malteser bunnies have been my weakness lately!

Reading // I've just discovered Emma Hart and fell in love with her writing style! I'm currently working my way through her Holly Woods Files series and bloomin' loving them! Such quick and easy chick-flick reads but with a bit of crime/detective-ing thrown in for good measure - my perfect combination!

Shopping // I shared a spring wishlist earlier this week, I'm currently stalking ASOS in the hope that this stunner of a dress will come back in stock! Also I completely fell in love with these blue-lense sunglasses today - I need them, they'd match my car!

Quoting // "it was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold, when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade" // "worrying means you suffer twice"

Watching // All of the Disney Films! I on a real Disney kick at the moment, I'm currently working my way through the Pirates of the Caribbean films - I've never watched them before! Captain Jack is just hilarious!

Working on // my finances. Ugh, adulting. I'm fairly good at managing my finances but there's still some improvements I want to make. I want to make sure I'm accountable each month for my spending - so I've made myself a little spreadsheet and set myself some goals!

18 things I've added to my Spring Wishlist

It's official, Spring is on its way!

We've had a lovely couple of days - they were beautiful, warm and sunny, hinting that Spring is only just around the corner, begging to break through the winter chill. And alright, we're back to drizzly grey skies again now, but the temptation of Spring is there!

So obviously this change in season has meant I've started having a peruse of ASOS, trying to find those bits and pieces that I can just see myself wearing, ready for when the weather properly warms up!

There's so much gingham about at the moment - I'm developing quite the love affair with it! Plus that shirtdress needs to be in my wardrobe - it's so different to anything I'd normally like, but I blame Hannah Gale - it's limited stock now so I'm kicking myself for not buying it sooner! I'm totally stalking the site, praying that it'll come back in stock! Plus, I can totally see myself strolling around in those flamingo espadrilles - white a white tee and jeans, it'd be such an easy outfit.

Ugh it's not often I get excited about fashion, but there's something about Spring this year that has got me adding things to my ASOS bag like payday isn't still two weeks away (the struggle...!)

So here's a roundup of everything that I've got in my saved items at the moment, I'm desperately trying to whittle it down...

What are you lusting after to get your wardrobe ready for Spring? Lemme know in the comments!

My Top 5 Disney Films

Disney movies have always been my favourite films to watch - there's something so comforting about snuggling up and getting lost in a Disney film for a couple of hours. I recently signed up to Disney Life and I've been existing in a little Disney movie bubble ever since - I've not watched anything apart from Disney films for the last couple of weeks...and it has been ace! So in honour of my newly rekindled Disney obsession I thought I'd share my top five Disney films...

1. LILO & STITCH // I mean, isn't it obvious that Stitch is my most favourite Disney character ever?! I cry at this film without fail every single time I watch it - I just love it. I love the Elvis songs, I love the setting, I love the lack of a traditional romance, but most of all I love the concept of "little and broken, but still good" - it really resonates with me.

2. TANGLED // As a general rule Disney princess movies aren't my favourite - but this one has to make my list. I love all of the songs, if I could marry a Disney character it'd be Flynn and Maximus is just adorable.

3. CARS // I don't know what it is about this relatively non-cult Disney movie that makes it one of my favourites, but it is! It's such a sweet, easy to watch, feel-good movie.

4. UP // Oh god, all of the feels - just all of them.

5. INSIDE OUT // This film was so incredibly well done (in my mind anyway) that it will forever be one of my favourites. I love the honest portrayal of emotions and the combination of them and what happens when one emotion overrules the others - I think that all of these big mental health messages wrapped up in a Disney animation is really forward thinking in helping children to subconsciously understand emotions more. Whilst this film isn't one I'd rewatch over and over, I think it's too important to not be one of my favourite!

{bonus mention} PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN // Until this past weekend I'd never watched any of the Pirates of the Caribbean films (shocking, I know!)! I watched the first movie this weekend and I'm obsessed, I loved it! I love how funny Captain Jack is, I love how loyal Jack, Elizabeth & Will are and I love the scenery, it's stunning. Plus I love how bloomin' long the films are - you really get sucked into another world for a couple of hours, I like that escapism!

So there are my fave Disney movies! What're your most favourite Disney Films? Like I said, I'm on a binge-watch at the moment so let me know your faves so I can rewatch them!

Happy Little Things #3

I come to love sharing a post in this new series - it's really lovely, collating the little things that make me smile or bring me joy throughout the month and having them to look back on. So I've been keeping a note on my phone of my happy little things from this past month ready to share in this post...

  • Subscribing to Disney Life - one of the best decisions I've ever made, I've been working my way through all of the Disney Channel Original Movies and loving it!
  • CT Pillow Talk lip combo - the perfect 'my lips but better' shade!
  • Pancake Day! Every Pancake Day we go to my Nam & G's (my grandparents) for pancakes for dinner - it's always so funny, we get so helpless with laughter that our flipping gets quite haphazard!
  • Having blue hair for a day! Teenage me would've loved it! I picked up this new temporary dye and was so impressed with it - usually blue hair doesn't show up very well on my dark brown hair but I was pleasantly surprised with this one!
  • Lighter nights starting to emerge - leaving work at almost 6pm and it not being pitch black puts me in such a good mood!
  • Making nutella and banana french toast for breakfast - yummm!
  • Finding new Disney vlogggers to watch - Tom&Sophie are my latest faves, I'm working my way through all of their Disney trips
  • When a song finishes just as your pull into your driveway and put your car in park
  • Having cereal for dinner - is there anything more comforting?
  • Re-reading Harry Potter - I bloody love re-reading this series every so often, I think it becomes more magical each time!

I love how these random little things really brightened up my days. What happy little things have you experienced this week?

P.S. here's the previous two instalments in this series, one & two, if you fancy a read!

Planner Flip Through // February

It's time for another planner flip through! I really enjoyed sharing my weekly spreads last month so I figured that I'd keep it up this month!

Also, I've decided to use this type of post as an opportunity not just to share how I laid my planner out this month, but also to share a little round up of my month, sharing bits and pieces I got up to, notable moments, you get the gist! I think it'd be something nice to look back on, a diary of sorts if you will!

February was a really mixed month for me; the first half of the month was really fun, I felt really happy but the second half of the month was just really 'blah' for me - I didn't felt very cheery, I didn't feel like myself, I didn't want to see/speak to my friends, I was feeling really overwhelmed by my over thinking and basically all I wanted to do was burrito in my bed and watch Netflix/Disney Life. Just keeping it real.

This 'Lets Stay Home' kit is from Harriet Wright Designs, I loved the combination of both the blue and pink for the transition week between January and February, I like how it incorporates the colours of both months.

The first week of February I only worked on Monday night, after that I was on annual leave - yay! The first task I wanted to complete when I was annual leave was to completely overhaul our spare room. We just didn't need it as a spare bedroom anymore so we've converted it into a pretty beauty storage room instead, we put a new floor down, built some new bookcases and it just looks so different now, we love it! Other notable moments: I took my Nam & G (aka my grandparents) out for dinner, I absolutely love spending time with them! I also went to the cinema (and a cheeky pizza hut after!) with my best friend and my goddaughter - we saw Sing! - it was so good, I really enjoyed it! Seeing as I was on annual leave for another week, on Sunday I decided to treat myself to a manicure - I bloomin' love how they turned out!

This 'Love Bug' kit is another Harriet Wright Designs kit - I'm just obsessed with her kits! I thought it was so appropriate for February with all of the pink and hearts everywhere - so cute!

This week was another week of annual leave for me and it started off by going into work! My Nam likes to bake cakes for me to take into work for everyone to enjoy and she's been wanting to see the lab for ages now, so I figured it was the best time to take her in - she thoroughly enjoyed her trip, her reaction was "ooh I feel like I'm in a James Bond film!) - she's so cute! Of course I had to fit in a couple of shopping trips with Mum and Nam whilst I was off work: I made a trip to Primark (I'd not been in at least six months so I was well overdue a visit!) and had my first GBK experience after, it was so tasty! We finished off the week with
a trip to Cheshire Oaks, a few naughty purchases were made and of course I couldn't be that close to Wagamama without having lunch there

This kit was the first I've ordered from Firefly Paper Shop, considering this shop is a relatively new one I was so impressed with the the design and the quality of this kit (I've got my eye on this beautiful kit next!), my only issue is that with it being based in America the shipping is a little bit of an eye-widener (as expected!), but I think that as a treat every now and then it's completely worth the splurge!

I was back at work this week, not gonna lie it was a sucky, it was Valentines and as a Single Pringle I really don't deal with it well - it just brings up all the self-doubt/self-loathing that I can usually subdue every day right up to the surface. Not fun. I had a relatively okay week at work, it was a nice and varied week and I survived my day in Special Coag (I'm just not as comfortable in there as I am in the other sections so it's always a bit stressful!). Over the weekend we finally got around to booking our hotel for our Appleby trip - I'm taking my Grandad up there for his holiday this year, we went last year and it was surprisingly fun! Also, in a moment of bleh I subscribed to Disney Life and it was the best decision ever - I've been watching old school Disney for the last couple of weeks and it has been amazing!

My final kit that I used in February was this Passionate Pink kit from Morello Paperie (which is on sale at the moment!) I love the colour combination in this kit - it reminds me of Valentines chocolate! Plus the little kitty cupid is so cute!

This week was probably my worst one for me feeling blah, I don't think my night shifts helped - after nights I always feel a bit sorry for myself! My favourite day of the week was when I spent my random rest day curled up in bed having a High School Musical marathon - it was fabulous! Bloody Storm Doris on Thursday really hit us hard: it literally blew my ponies stable away - it ended up in a tree (it was all very Wizard of Oz-esque!) plus it blew down the plum tree in our garden! This past weekend was jam-packed full of fun though, it was my Nams birthday on Saturday so we went out for a really lovely dinner at one of our local traditional pubs. And then on Sunday it was my goddaughters 6th birthday party - it was so sweet seeing her run around and have fun with her little friends!

So that was February via my planner, I love how each of the spreads were different but still in keeping with the pink/valentines theme!
